On the 16th of May, the College Social Club hosted an event for the charity, Beyond Blue. An experienced speaker from Beyond Blue, John Maguire, presented to students and staff about depression, anxiety and suicide prevention. He offered advice on where to turn to for support and advice and he shared some of his personal experiences and revelations around anxiety and depression. The response to the event was overwhelmingly positive and generated introspection and thoughtful and considered conversations amongst those who attended.

Posters advertising the event were designed by the FSP1 Design Studies class, and food was planned and prepared by the FSP1 Nutrition Class. The Design Studies project brief was to design a promotional poster for the College Beyond Blue fundraiser at the College. The poster was aimed at promoting Beyond Blue as a place to go to for help and support with mental illness. The Nutrition class focused on preparing nutritious food on a budget and provided the opportunity for students to practice skills around food safety and preparation. The event was well attended by staff and students and, together with a raffle fundraiser run in conjunction with this event, the College raised $252.30 for Beyond Blue.
