Foundation Studies

Welcome

Academic Information

We are excited to support your studies with the College remotely until you can join us in person. Remote Learning is only part of your studies and it does not mean that you will be required to complete your entire studies this way.

Before you proceed with accessing your study material, it is important that you:

  • Set up your student email – all communication from the College will be sent to your student email address. It is important that you check your student email regularly.
  • Ensure that your University emails are being forwarded to your personal email address.
  • Check that you can access your courses in eCollege.

Accessing your study materials in eCollege

The University requires that you are actively engaged with your study materials on eCollege when you study in person and remotely. Please be aware that your engagement on eCollege will be closely monitored to ensure that you are well prepared for the rest of the course.

In each of the courses that you have been enrolled, you will find a ‘Remote Learning’ Module. You will need to access this module for information relating to your remote learning. Your study materials will still be accessible on your subject pages. Read through the materials and complete all activities, tasks and/or assessments required.

‘Remote Learning’ Module, (refer to the image below), you will find instructions and/or links to access your Zoom session. Important subject announcements will also be located here.

Accessing class recordings

All classes, where possible, are being recorded and uploaded to eCollege via the Box Cloud for you to access. If you do not have a Box Cloud account yet, click here to set it up. To access the class recordings:

  • Select your subject on eCollege.
  • Click on Zoom videos. This will take you to a Box Cloud folder.
  • Select the video that you wish to view.

Engaging with your TAP teachers

It is important to remember that the College provides additional academic support for you to progress to University. This applies to all students. You should engage with all your TAP teachers in a scheduled session via Zoom or otherwise to ensure that you can be successful in the course. A reminder that TAP sessions can be book via eCollege here.

The College will support your studies and engagement in this course through ‘live’ sessions using Zoom meetings. All sessions where possible will be recorded and uploaded to the ‘Remote Learning – Zoom Videos’ section. A consent box will appear when your teacher begins to record your session. You must accept the consent if you wish to continue in the Zoom meeting. If you do not wish to be recorded, please inform your teacher in charge of the session and turn off/cover your camera during the session. However, note that you will be asked to contribute during the session.

When you access Zoom for the first time, you can either access it from the link your teacher will provide you, or through the Zoom app. The Zoom app can be downloaded to all Windows, Apple and Android devices.

To set up your Zoom access, click on https://zoom.us/download. You will sign in with an SSO, using your University of Adelaide Account login details. Additional logging instructions can be located here. Please also keep an eye out for communication from your teachers.

Engaging in the College tutorial support sessions

Interactive Class sessions are a required part of your learning at the College. You will need to:

  • Go through your study materials and activities on eCollege.
  • Be prepared with questions for the zoom sessions.
  • Click on the zoom link scheduled for your session – check your ‘Remote Learning’ Module within each subject on eCollege.
  • Interact actively with your College academic during the session.
  • The session will be recorded but your attendance will also be noted. It is advisable that you attend all the sessions where possible.
  • If you do not wish to be recorded, please inform your college tutor in charge of the session and turn off/cover your camera during the session. However, note that you may be asked to contribute during the session.
  • Note: Your College tutor may not deliver a lecture. They are there to assist your learning and understanding of the main content. Some sessions will be interactive.
  • All recorded sessions will be uploaded to the Box Cloud and accessible via eCollege.

You will receive an email on Friday 17 April with the subjects we recommend you study for your chosen degree. This will be sent to the personal email address you provided the College.
