Transition Questions

What is changing with the College?

The merger of The University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia has created the new Adelaide University. As a result, The University of Adelaide College is rebranding to Kaplan International College (KIC) Adelaide. This change reflects our commitment to preparing students for the new Adelaide University and draws on Kaplan’s 87 years of global education experience. The College, which is operated by Kaplan Higher Education Pty Ltd will stop delivering programs on behalf of The University of Adelaide when the University of Adelaide is disestablished in 2026.

From 2026, Kaplan Higher Education (KHE) Pty Ltd will be the registered provider of the programs at KIC Adelaide and the provider of pathway programs to Adelaide University.

Most importantly, KIC Adelaide is a trusted and recognised pathway to Adelaide University. We have worked closely with the University throughout the merger process to ensure that our students can have the smoothest possible transition and be prepared to be among the first to study at the new Adelaide University.

How do I know if the transition impacts me?

If you are completing your studies in the current study period, you are not impacted by transition. There will be no changes to your current program or your progression to your next. Everything will continue as planned.

If you are studying in a Foundation Studies, Degree Transfer or Pre-Masters Program in 2025 and will not complete in the current study period, transition applies to you. We will work closely with you to explain and support you through each step. Our aim is to make this process as smooth and stress-free as possible. The FAQs below provide further information.

What are the key dates around these changes?

28 Aug – 11 Sep 2025 Students are informed about the new College name
11 Sep – 22 Oct 2025 Students with continuing 2025-2026 programs receive more information about their options and a Student Choice form

How does the transition from UoAC to KIC Adelaide work?

The College Services team will guide you through the transition process step-by-step. To continue your studies as planned, you will be required to accept a new Offer of Admission for KIC Adelaide. This offer will contain specific details related to your enrolment (key dates, program, subject credit, fees etc.). Once you accept your new KIC Adelaide offer, your updated Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) containing details of your KIC Adelaide program will be sent to you. Your UoAC CoE will be valid to the end of your current study period, then your KIC Adelaide CoE will be in effect for the remainder of your program in 2026. All subjects completed with The University of Adelaide College will be recognised by KIC Adelaide.

When will I get my Offer of Admission for KIC Adelaide?

Your new Offer of Admission will be issued by KIC Adelaide Admissions when you return your Student Choice form nominating a transfer from UoAC to KIC Adelaide. You will be asked to update your personal email address on the Student Choice form to make sure your offer gets to you.

How can I accept my Offer of Admission for KIC Adelaide?

Your offer will be sent to the personal email address you nominate on the Student Choice form. To accept the offer, you will need to log into your new student portal for KIC Adelaide called Kaplink, where you can review and accept the offer directly in the portal. Please note, your offer cannot be accepted by an education agent, it can only be accepted by the student. Remember, the College Services team are here to help you.

Will I receive credits for the subjects I’ve completed with UoAC? Will my Offer of Admission display my credits?

Yes, you will receive credits for the subjects you have successfully completed in your current University of Adelaide program. The credits for completed subjects will be displayed on your KIC Adelaide Offer of Admission, as well as conditional credits for the subjects you’re currently enrolled in. This credit will appear on your Offer of Admissions as RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning). What you will see on your offer will be the equivalent new subject at KIC Adelaide. The KIC Adelaide offer and transcript won’t show the results (grades) of your UoAC studies, therefore you must download and save a copy of your transcript for the University of Adelaide College program for your records.

How does this impact my CoE and student visa?

KIC Adelaide will issue you with a new CoE for the pathway program you will complete in 2026. Your University of Adelaide College CoE will be in place until the end of the current study period.

We recommend that you contact either the Department of Home Affairs or your agent to confirm whether this change will have any impact on your student visa.

What happens if I don’t want to continue my studies with KIC Adelaide?

You do have the choice to not receive a KIC Adelaide offer on the Student Choice form or to not accept the KIC Adelaide offer sent to you. If you’re not sure about whether to make the transition to KIC Adelaide, please speak to a College Services Staff member to find out more about the potential consequences on your CoE, tuition fees, including any refund of 2026 tuition fees. This additional information will allow you to make an informed decision.

Academic Questions

Where will I be able to see subject credits in my new enrolment?

The credit you receive for completed subjects at UoAC will be visible in the KIC Adelaide student portal, Kaplink, in the Enrolments tab, this will appear as RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning). The grade/marks from the UoAC studies will not be carried over to KIC Adelaide, therefore it’s important you save a copy of your unofficial academic transcript from myAdelaide for your records.

Are there any changes to my timetable/classrooms/class hours?

Nothing will change in 2025. In 2026 you’ll have a new timetable but most of your classrooms will be familiar. You will have the same great experience and University access. You will be one of the first students to experience the new Adelaide University campus experience in 2026.

Will the subjects change? If yes, how does that affect my progression to Adelaide University?

Some subjects have been updated to align with the new University, but this will not affect your progression to Adelaide University.

What will my academic transcript look like?

Your final transcript when you complete your program with KIC Adelaide will show all the subjects you completed at KIC Adelaide and the credit you received for subjects completed with UoAC. To see all of your grades for every subject, you will need a transcript from UoA for studies completed up until the end of 2025 and from KIC Adelaide for studies completed in 2026.

Progression to Adelaide University

Will the transition affect my academic progress? Will I be delayed?

All your studies at UoAC are recognised by KIC Adelaide so the transition will not affect your academic progress provided you successfully complete all your subjects.

Does Adelaide University accept my combined studies from UoAC and KIC Adelaide?

Yes, KIC Adelaide has worked closely with Adelaide University to ensure that your studies from UoAC and KIC Adelaide will be recognised. There are agreements in place to ensure this.

How will progression be calculated from the credit transferred?

For FSP students, progression will be calculated using an average of both your UoAC and KIC Adelaide subjects. The approach ensures your progression is assessed fairly and that you are not disadvantaged by the transition.
