Accommodation

Accommodation plays an important part in creating a solid foundation for your academic success and personal growth.

You may want to try staying with an Australian family for a complete cultural experience. Or perhaps, you’d like to live in a shared house with friends. If you want some privacy and quiet, you might prefer your own studio apartment. We can help you find a home that suits your needs. Some of the options include:

Are you under the age of 18?

Our friendly staff look after all students at the College, but we do take particular care of students who are under the age of 18. Before you arrive, we will help you to arrange suitable accommodation, either with a local homestay family, or an apartment at our approved student residence for those under 18’s, Scape at the University of Adelaide.

We’ll pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your new home. At the College, we will assign you your own personal welfare officer, who you will meet with every two weeks to ensure you’re settling into your new life in Australia.

Homestay

If you want to get to know how Australians live, and you like the idea of living with a local family, then this is a fantastic option for you! While you’re staying with your homestay family in their home, they will take care of you and make you feel comfortable. It’s also a great way to practise your English language skills outside the classroom.

The College does not enter into a contract with either the student or the homestay family but simply acts as the facilitator for the homestay placement. We take a lot of care when matching homestay families and students, however sometimes things don’t work out as expected. Please note that we are here to help you if you find yourself in this situation. Just get in touch with us.

If you are aged 18 and over, you are required to stay with your homestay family for a minimum of four weeks, unless there are extenuating circumstances and you need change your arrangement. For under 18’s you are required to stay in your homestay for a minimum of six months or until you are 18 years old, whichever is the earlier date. All students requesting homestay are required to pay an accommodation placement fee.
